Numerical Investigation on Aerodynamic Drag Reducing of Slender Body with Non-Cylindrical Base Cavity

In order to study the possibility of aerodynamic optimization base cavity for slender body, influence with non-cylindrical shape, which is different from traditional column one, investegated by numerical method in paper. The supersonic flow field same body two sorts unconventional cavity, half truncated-cone and column, simulated axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equations. Distribution Mach Number (Ma), streamline, temperature pressure field; drag were calculated. Compared cylindrical structure, results show that, appropriate helpful decrease body. paper’s simulation, (negative inclination) shape has smallest drag. widely used reduce drag, there are spaces further optimize still.
